Boston’s Vinnie Carita (24-1-1, 23 KOs) is no stranger to taking care of business inside the ring. With a knockout rate of nearly 89%, Carita is one of New England’s most explosive finishers. A lifelong boxer, after finishing an amateur career with over 100 fights, Carita has won the WBC Latino Cruiserweight TITLE and the ABF Continental Americas Cruiserweight Title within the last two years.

Though not being active in the ring since 2019 due to the COVID-19 Global Pandemic, Carita has been working on bolstering his team outside of the ring with the hiring of Danbury, CT. based boxing advisor A.J. Galante and trainers Dave McDonough and Bennie Little. Galante said he was initially shocked to hear that Carita wanted to meet him at his gym Champs Boxing Club, located in Danbury, “I received a call from Vinnie’s most recent trainer Jason Bailey who had just recently moved to California. He told me Vinnie was interested in working with our team here. I was a bit taken back being that we are 3 plus hours from Boston, but I was extremely excited at the prospect and challenge in working with a guy like Vinnie. I truly believe he’s a diamond in the rough and I know our team can help get him to the next level.” Working Carita’s corner will be long time trainers Dave McDonough and Bennie Little, who also train rising prospect Omar Bordoy Jr (10-1), Geoffrey Then (1-0), Troy Artis (5-9-1) and newly crowned New England Heavyweight Champion Mike Marshall (4-1), among others.

Galante, of Danbury, CT, has been managing and advising professional boxers for 6 years. In addition to Marrero, Galante currently manages Omar ‘The Beast’ Bordoy (1-0, Danbury, CT) and is an adviser to Frank ‘Notorious’ Galarza (17-2-2, 11KO’s, Brooklyn, NY). He notably managed the career of Delvin Rodriguez (29-4-4, 16KO’s, Danbury, CT) from his fight of the year against Pawel Wolak in 2011, to his HBO Main Event bout against Miguel Cotto in 2013.

Galante thinks with a good plan in place, the sky is the limit for the 22 year old Marrero. “I’m really excited and appreciative to be hired by Cristobal. It’s always humbling when somebody of his talent and caliber seeks you and wants you to be part of their team. He has all the tools, the hunger, amateur experience (82 fights), and personality to be a star. I’ve been brought onboard to monitor and add structure to his camp, and map out the future both for the short and long term. I’m looking forward to working with and building a successful relationship with his promoter, Jimmy Burchfield and CES, one of the most respected names in professional boxing.”

In speaking with Marrero, it’s clear to see he is optimistic on his future. “My Dad and I have followed A.J. and have seen the great things he has been doing with everybody that he handles, as well as his gym and amateur program. When we met with him the first time, we left knowing this was a guy we could trust, and has what it takes to take me to the next level, we knew we had to hire him. He is a man of his word and I’m so excited about some of the ideas he has for my career. It just makes me hungrier!”

Danbury, CT (January 17, 2014) -Professional boxing manager A.J. Galante, President of Elite Boxing Enterprises, is currently part of a multi-page feature in Sport’s Illustrated.

The publication giant reached out to Galante, 27 years old, about the minor league hockey team his father and he owned ten years ago, one of the most controversial hockey teams ever, the Danbury Trashers. Galante was named the President of the team at the tender age of 17, and helped build what was known as the toughest hockey team in America. “The Danbury Trashers are a team that can never be duplicated.” Galante stated, “My father and I turned the hockey world upside down in just two seasons. I was young, but worked hard, and we definitely did things our way.” The Trashers became infamous in two seasons due to their rough style of play, crazy antics both on and off the ice, as well as being a winning team, reaching the league finals in just their second season.

Galante’s experience in Minor League hockey laid the groundwork for him to jump into the professional boxing business as a manager, starting in 2011. “My father and I went into minor league hockey with zero, and I mean zero experience running a sports franchise. But we built a team that nobody wanted to go up against. I came into boxing at the age of 24, again with zero experience or knowledge. I have managed a total of 3 boxers, and I believe I’ve been an asset to their careers.”

Galante started managing Delvin Rodriguez in 2011, and helped guide him for 6 fights, culminating in Rodriguez’s biggest match of his career, a main event bout on HBO World Championship Boxing against Miguel Cotto. Galante no longer manages Rodriguez, but is excited about a new Junior Middleweight about to burst onto the scene, reigning undefeated New York State Jr. Middleweight Champion Frank ‘Notorious’ Galarza. “Frank is the real deal. I’ve been with him for 3 fights, and we’ve come a long way each bout and in between. He believes in me and I believe in him, we have a great team and together we will make noise, starting Friday on Showtime.” Galarza will be competing in the co-feature of tonight’s 2014 season premiere of Showtime’s ShoBox: The Next Generation, against undefeated John Thompson.
