Elijah Lugo and Sa’Rai Brown-El dominating The Amateur Circuit

New York (February 1, 2022) –Amateur stars Elijah Lugo and Sa’Rai Brown-El finished 2021 on a high note and are looking forward to major impacts in 2022.

Lugo made Team USA at 165 lb. junior’s. In the tournament he stopped both of his opponents with body shots. In his last 10 fights, all wins, Elijah has seven stoppage victories, and was named the Georgia Male Boxer of the Year.

Brown, 17 years-old, won the USA National Title in the 114 lb Female division. She has been a member of Team USA for three years. She has trained under Michael Lugo (Elijah’s father) since age nine. in 2021 she was named The Georgia Boxer of the Year for the 6th straight year.

Sa’Rai and Elijah will be competing in the Silver Gloves National Tournament, and later in the month be traveling to Romania to compete in a Youth Junior International Tournament.

Elijah’s older brother, Nathan will be back competing in March after tearing his Labrum. Nathan. who competes as a heavyweight is also a highly-regarded amateur, has the most stoppage victories in the United States. He will be competing in the Georgia Golden Gloves Tournament in June. Then in July, it will be off to the Regional Golden Gloves. In August, he will enter the National Golden Gloves for the first time.

Lugo Brothers Appear in Sports Illustrated

(January 15, 2021)–Sensational amateur boxers Nathan and Elijah Lugo have graced the pages of Sports Illustrated, appearing in the magazine’s long time favorite “Faces in the Crowd” feature detailing their amazing run of success in the ring.

Brothers Nathan,16, and Elijah, 14, of Marietta, Georgia, have more combined national titles (36) than they have combined losses (28). Coached by their father, Michael Lugo, the two brothers are widely considered to be the best young prospects in the United States amateur system. They have both been a part of USA Boxing since the age of eight.

Nathan has an amateur record of 219-9 and is a 21-time National Champion – and has the most stoppage victories in history by a USA Boxer (19).

Elijah is 151-19 and is a 15-time National Champion. He will be fighting in March for a chance to be on Team USA.

Nathan and Elijah Lugo Dominate in Serbia

ATLANTA, GA (OCTOBER 21, 2020)– Boxing prodigy brothers Nathan and Elijah Lugo added to their already impressive resumes with victories in the 4th Nations Junior Cup in Vrbas, Serbia.

Representatives of the United States of America, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Northern Macedonia and Serbia were in attendance.

Nathan, 16, won the 201-pound bracket as he scored a 32 second knockout in his opening round bout against an opponent that was riding a 15-bout knockout streak. Nathan later won the tournament in a walkover as his prospective opponent claimed a shoulder injury and would not compete.

Elijah, 14, originally came to Serbia in support of his older brother, but was asked to compete in the tournament after organizers waived the 16 year-old age minimum so he could compete in the 165-pound division.

Elijah went out and defeated his Serbian opponent by a 2-1 score on the strength of a standing-eight count in the final frame. He then won his final with a 2nd round knockout as he dropped his opponent with hard body shots that were set up by great boxing skills. Elijah was awarded the Best Boxer in the competition.

The Lugo’s were the only representatives from the United States and their strong performances catapulted USA to finish in 2nd place.

Nathan and Elijah are coached by their father, Michael, and are widely considered the two best young prospects in the United States. They have both been a part of USA Boxing since the age of eight.
