Atlantic City, New Jersey (June 1, 2018)–Super Middleweight Derrick Webster pounded his way to a 10-round unanimous decision over Oscar Riojas in the main event of a five-bout card at The Claridge Hotel.

Mis Downing Promotions promoted the near-capacity show.

With the win, Webster captured the American Boxing Federation Continental Americas Super Middleweight title.

Webster was pinpoint with his jab, which he followed with a solid body work that reddened the sides of Riojas. Webster stunned the gritty Riojas on several occasions, but the visitor from Monterrey, Mexico showed a good chin and remained on his feet for the ten-round bout.

Scores were all 100-90 in favor of Webster of Glassboro, New Jersey, who is now 26-1. Riojas is 16-10-1.

“It was boxing in there. I put on a display. Roy Jones told me to keep him long, and that’s what I did. I started the body work a little late, but the jab was my key. I could have done a little more with the body, but the jab was everything tonight,” said Webster.

“In the 1st round, I hit him with a big right hand, but the bell saved him. I hit him good a couple more times. Some guys know how to survive, and he is one of them.”

“We have been talking to the USBA about fighting for their title. That will get me to where I need to be. I am ready for a world title shot. I have been putting it out there that I would like fight George Groves or Tyron Zuege. I will go to China or Germany or wherever to fight those guys.”

Isiah Seldon scored two knockdowns en-route to a six-round unanimous decision over Lamar Harris in a super middleweight bout.

In round four, Seldon landed a perfect counter right that sent Harris to the deck. In round five, it was another right that mad Harris’ glove touch the canvas for a 2nd time.

Seldon of Atlantic City won by scores of 60-52 twice and 59-53 and is now 12-1-1. Harris of St. Louis is 9-15-4.

Prince Badi Ajamu won a eight-round unanimous decision over Edgar Perez in a cruiserweight rematch. Seldon continued to hammer and wobble Harris in round four.

Ajamu of Camden, New Jersey won by scores of 80-72 twice and 79-73 to raise his mark to 29-4-1. Perez of Chicago is 7-25.

James Wilkins stopped Joe Gbola at the end of round two of their scheduled four-round featherweight bout.

Wilkins dropped Gbolo midway through the 2nd round, and then pounded on his opponent for the rest of the round. The bout was stopped in between rounds.

Wilkins of Brooklun, NY is 4-0 with 4 knockouts. Gbolo of Newbergh, NY is 3-3-2.

In the opening bout of the evening, Felix Manzueta stopped Antonio Allen in round two of a scheduled four-round welterweight bout.

Manzueta pounded on Allen until the bout was stopped at 1:17.

Manzueta of Dover, Delaware is 2-0 with both wins coming via stoppage. Allen of Philadelphia is 0-8-1.

The card took place on Atlantic City Hall of Fame weekend, and stars such as Roy Jones Jr., Riddick Bowe, Evander Holyfield, Hector Camacho Jr., Bruce Seldon, Mark Breland, Marlon Starling, Michael Spinks and Jeff Chandler were among the dignateries that were sitting ringside.”

Atlantic City, New Jersey (May 31, 2018)–Super Middleweight contender Derrick “Take It To The Bank” Webster (25-1, 13 KOs) feels the time is now to take on the big boys of the division, but in order to secure a bout with a top contender or champion, he first must get by Oscar Riojas (16-9-1, 5 KOs) of Monterrey, Mexico in the 10-round main event this Friday night at The Claridge Hotel.

Webster of Glassboro, New Jersey has been working hard in the gym as he prepares for this most important bout.

In Riojas, he is facing a battle-tested veteran who has taken on seven undefeated opponents as well as 2 world title challengers.

“I know he has fought Brandon Robinson. Robinson is a close friend to me, and what I saw in that fight is that Robinson hit hIm with some good shots, and I don’t know how he withstood them. Riojas came in after another opponent fell out for me. The funny thing is that he thinks that he can beat me, but on June 1st, he will know that he does not belong in the same ring as me.”

Webster has been looking for a signature fight in the suddenly hot 168-pound division, and after this fight on Friday, Webster will be looking to make his mark.

“I am ranked number-5 in the USBA, so maybe someone for that belt or the NABF. I have to fight for the bigger regional titles as a pathway to the world championship. I have been kasking for Groves after he gets done with the WBSS Tournament or WBA champion Tyrin Zeuge. I would also like to take on WBO champion Gilberto Ramirez.”

This is a special weekend for Atlantic City Boxing as the Atlantic City Boxing Hall of fame will have it’s 2nd induction weekend, and may of the legends of the sport will be in attendance to watch Webster fight.

Millville NJ (October 3, 2016)–Rising Promotions is proud to announce the signings of super middleweight Isiah Seldon, super lightweight’s Marvin Johnson & Dan Murray, bantamweight Dallas Holden, cruiserweight David Sparks and featherweight Dion Sparks to exclusive promotional contracts.

They join undefeated heavyweight Quian Davis (3-0-2, 2 KO’s) as the first group of fighters to ink contracts under the Rising Promotions banner.

Davis is coming off a 28 second knockout this past Saturday night in Trenton, New Jersey over Jonathan Hafley

Seldon of Atlantic City, New Jersey has a record of 9-1 with three knockouts.

The 28 year-old son of former WBA Heavyweight world champion, Bruce Seldon, turned professional in 2010 and won his first seven bouts. Following his lone blemish, Seldon has won two fights in 2016, which includes his latest outing when won a six-round unanimous decision over Eddie Edmond on May 27th in Atlantic City.

“I am happy and excited. I know they will keep me busy and they are bringing boxing back to Atlantic City. It’s a blessing,” said Seldon.

Johnson has a record of 1-0-1. The Bridgeton, New Jersey native is had a long amateur career of 211-31. He was a 2007 National PAL in 2007 and 6 time in Florida PAL champion. Johnson was a 3 time time Ringside World Championship Runner-Up; 3 time National PAL Runner-Up Johnson is

24 years-old and turned professional in 2014, and is is coming off a four-round unanimous decision over Lamont White on July 22nd in Atlantic City.

Murray, 24 years-old of Barnegat, New Jersey was 26-7 as an amateur. He was a New Jersey Golden Gloves and New Jersey Diamond Gloves champion.

Holden, 20 years-old of Atlantic City was a highly regarded amateur who amassed 50 fights. Holden fought in the Philadelphia Golden Gloves. He has a professional record of 1-0. Holden turned professional on July 22nd with a four-round unanimous decision over Kevin Asmat in Atlantic City.

“I have known Thomas for a long time and its going to be a good thing. It’s going to open a lot of doors. Because of my amateur career, people know me and now they want to see me fight as a professional,” said Holden.

David Sparks of Brooklyn, New York has a record of 2-0. The 31 year-old turned professional in 2014 and in his latest outing, he won a four-round unanimous decision over Marcellus Yates on March 28, 2015 in Queens, New York

Before turning pro, Sparks competed in 80 amateur fights and amassed 3 National championships, Golden Gloves and Ringside world championships

Dion Sparks, 19 years old, had 135 amateur fights. He won 3 national championships and 2 world championships, and at one point was ranked number-one in the United States.

Atlantic City, NJ (May 30, 2016)–This past Friday night at the Claridge Hotel in Atlantic City, Rising Promotions staged it’s third consecutive fight card in front of a large crowd that saw Isiah Seldon defeat Eddie Edmond in the six-round main event.

The middleweight bout highlighted a entertaining six bout card.

Seldon rocked Edmond several times with right hands that had the Newark, New Jersey resident holding on. The grabbing got much more severe and Edmond was deducted a point in round four. In round six, Seldon sealed the fight when he landed a right hand that forced Edmond’s glove to touch the canvas for a knockdown.

Seldon, 156 lbs won by scores of 59-54, 59-53 and 58-54 to raise his record to 9-1. Edmond, 158 lbs is 4-5-2.

In the co-feature, Chuck Mussachio shook off 39 months of ring rust to pound out a six-round unanimous decision over Willis Lockett in a cruiserweight rematch of a draw that occurred almost eight-years ago.
Mussachio was adept with his jab and landed some hard right hands that stunned Lockett. Despite the long layoff, Mussachio was sharp with his punches and reflexes looked on-point as he was only hit with a couple right hands. Mussachio thrilled his fan base that has stood by him throughout his eleven year career and the Lower Cape May Regional High School guidance counselor will look to make one more run at a title fight.

Mussachio, 183 lbs of Wildwood, New Jersey won by scores of 60-54, 59-55 and 58-56 and is now 19-3-2. Lockett, 205.3 lbs of Takoma Park, Maryland is 14-17-5.

In an action filled welterweight bout, Quan Johnson made a successful pro debut with a fourth round stoppage over Adrian Wilson in the final scheduled round of their welterweight bout.

Johnson showed fast hands from his southpaw stance and he got off to a good start when a straight left hand in round one landed for a knockdown. Moments later, a hard straight left sent Wilson down for a second time in the opening frame, Wilson began to bleed from his nose in the next round and his troubles worsened when a cut over the right eye formed after another hard left. Wilson showed heart as he fought back hard but, he was outgunned as he tasted the canvas two more times in round four from first a right hook and then finally an accumulation of punches forced the bout to be stopped at 2:15 of round four.

Johnson, 148.6 of Cherry Hill, New Jersey is 1-0 with 1 knockout. Wilson, 147.3 lbs of Atlantic Cuty is 0-3.

Heavyweight’s Quian Davis and Soloman Maye battled to a four round majority draw

Davis boxed but Maye came forward in attempt to make the fight. The judges liked the aggressiveness of Maye and gave him credit for two rounds on two cards ad Davis took a card 39-37 while two read even at 38-38.

Davis, 253 lbs of Mays Landing, New Jersey is now 2-0-2. Maye, 226.7 lbs of New Haven, Connecticut is 1-6-2.

2016 United States Olympic Alternate, LeRoy Davila stopped Dominic Whitehurst in the second round in a scheduled four round bantamweight bout featuring pro debuter’s.

Davila showed quick hands from his southpaw stance and dropped Whitehurst with a body combination in round two. Davila landed a three punch combination to the body to register a second knockdown. Davila ended things when he landed a hard left hand and the fight was stopped at 2:34.
Davila, 116.9 lbs of New Brunswick, New Jersey is now 1-0 with one knockout. Whitehurst, 117.5 lbs of Chillicothe, Ohio is 0-1.

Said Davila’s manager, Pete Festa, “Rising Promotions is the best up and coming promoter in the industry.”

Lamont Capers opened up the show by scoring a eight round split decision over Nick Kisner in a cruiserweight bout.

Capers was effective with the right hand that continued to get through on Kisner. Kisner landed some good shots that made Capers nose bleed, but he wasn’t as consistent or active enough to pile up the rounds. Kisner was deducted a point for holding in round seven.

Capers, 196.2 lbs of Hawley, Pennsylvania won by scores of 77-74 twice, while Kisner took a card 76-75. Capers is now 6-8-2. Kisner, 197.8 lbs of Baltimore, Maryland falls to 16-3-1.

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ (May 26, 2016)–THIS Friday night, May 27th, a big night of boxing will kick off a holiday weekend at The Claridge in Atlantic City as Rising Promotions will present a terrific card of boxing.

In the main event, It will be about New Jersey bragging rights as Isiah Seldon will take on Eddie Edmond in a bout scheduled for six-rounds.

In a one of the undercard bout, Baltimore-based cruiserweight contender, “Slick” Nick Kisner will take on Lamont Capers.

Kisner, who was a prized amateur that saw him become a 3-time National Silver Gloves champion, a 2-time National junior Golden Gloves champion and a Ringside World championship, just to name a few of his big wins in the non-paying ranks.

The 25 year-old has a record of 16-2-1 with six knockouts.

“I have had a very good training camp,” said Kisner. “Capers is a tough and durable opponent. He has been in with some very good fighters, but I am very confident about getting the win on Friday.”

Kisner has won two in a row since his highest profile bout to date when he dropped a ten round unanimous decision to former two-time world title challenger Lateef Kayode,

In that bout, Kisner fought well and had some moments in the bout, but came up just short in a fight that seemed closer then the official scorecards.

“I learned a lot about in that fight. I went 10-rounds for the first time. I did that against one of the best fighters in the divisions. That was the fight where, also learned the best way to get down to 200 pounds. Before that fight, I would kill myself to make the weight.”

That training regimen has worked so well, that Kisner is now contemplating a move to light heavyweight.

“That is the plan. In fact, if everything goes well on Friday, that I am looking at a big name at light heavyweight in August.”

But first, he has to deal with Capers, not far from Kisner’s hometown of Baltimore.

“I am excited to be fighting in Atlantic City. It is one of the big stages in boxing. Come Friday, I am going to put on a great show, and I am going to show the world that I am great fighter. I have learned from my previous fights. I have matured and on Friday, people will see that I am on the best fighters in the world.”

Seldon, who is the son of former WBA Heavyweight champion, Bruce Seldon will be making his 2nd appearance in three months as he is coming off a 6-round on March 19th over Michael Mitchell, has been in the gym to round back into form after 33-month layoff.

“Training camp has been great. We have been doing a lot of boxing as I been still shaking off some rust from the layoff,” said Seldon. “To come right back is not a big deal. I am an athlete and I am always in good shape. My body feels better when I am active and in the gym. Even when I wasn’t getting the fights, I was always in the gym.”

In Edmond, he is fighting a fighter from Newark, New Jersey and has similar experience.

“I have seen some video of him. He comes forward and he throws punches. That is the kid of fight that I want to be in. He will come to fight and that should ,make for entertaining fight.”

This will be the 2nd straight fight for Seldon against a fellow foe from the Garden State, but that doesn’t matter to the 27 year-old native of Atlantic City.

“I don’t care where a person is from. A fight is a fight. In fact, I actually want to see all the locals make it. That is unless they are fighting me. It is always fun fighting in Atlantic City. I will have a lot of friends there supporting me.”

Seldon credits his return to the ring to Rising Promotions, who will be staging their 3rd show in the past six months.

In a six-round co-feature, one of the most popular fighter’s from the shore area, Light Heavyweight Chuck Mussachio will be back in the ring after a 39-month lay off when he takes on Willis Lockett in a rematch of a bout that that ended in a draw on September 19, 2008.

Mussachio of Wildwood, New Jersey has a record of 18-3-2 with five knockouts and will be looking to get back to winning ways that made him a contender.

He will be marking his ring return in a familiar town where he has performed 17 times.

“Everything is going well. I am back in the swing of things and getting good sparring three days a week,” said Mussachio. “I started getting the itch again when I was helping Isiah Seldon ready for his fight in March. I am not worried about the layoff. I got that ring rust off in February. That wore off quickly and that motivated me to get back in the room quickly. I have been in the gym the whole time, sparring. I was in Bernard Hopkins last two camps, so I have been in good shape this whole time.”

Lockett of Takoma Park, Maryland has a record of 14-16-5 with five knockouts.

His record does not tell the story as Lockett has faced the “Whose-Who” of fighters between Super Middleweight and Heavyweight.

He has quality wins over Tyrone Tate (5-1), Calvin Riley (1-0), Willie Williams (6-1), former world title challenger Larry Marks, Joe McCreedy (10-2-1) & John Lennox (13-3). The winner of Lennox was part of Rising Promotions maiden card on December 5, 2015.

Lockett has faced eight undefeated fighters. Lockett will look to break a two-fight losing streak. In his last bout, Lockett was disqualified against Jordan Shimmell (19-1) on February 27 in Washington, DC.

“When we fought before,” said Mussachio, “I won that fight. I can’t believe they ruled that a draw. I have something to prove, because I took every round in that fight. Looking back, I couldn’t even tell you how he is. He never hit me. I am just going to do what I did last time, but this time, I have to do more.”

Mussachio, who is a guidance counselor by day, isn’t just coming back for one fight. He wants to get back to the status that got him to a 17-1-2 record and came within seconds of becoming USBA Cruiserweight champion before getting stopped by Garrett Wilson in 2011.

“The goal is to take this as far as I can. I have my rhythm back. This is not just one fight. I want to get a big opportunity. I already have the record for that.”

“I feel rejuvenated. I haven’t took a pounding and I still have good legs.”

Mussachio would not have his comeback fight anywhere else and is impressed by the way Rising Boxing Promotions has handled business leading up to the fight.

“I don’t like fighting anywhere else but Atlantic City. This is my 2nd home and it means a lot. After all this time, the interest is still there for me and my fans are coming out. ATLANTIC CITY, NJ (April 26, 2016)–On Friday night, May 27th, a big night of boxing will kick off a holiday weekend at The Claridge in Atlantic City as Rising Promotions will present a terrific card of boxing.

“We are excited to come back to the Claridge. Thanks to the whole staff at Rising Promotions and the AC Boxing Hall of Fame, we are able to do our third show in only 5 months and give local fighters the opportunity to showcase their talent,”said Debra LaManna of Rising Star Promotions.

In the main event, It will be about New Jersey bragging rights as Isiah Seldon will take on Eddie Edmond in a bout scheduled for six-rounds.

Seldon, 27 years-old of Atlantic City, New Jersey is a six-year professional and has a record of 8-1 with three knockouts and is coming his title-winning effort when he won a six-round unanimous decision over Michael Mitchell on March 19th at the Claridge.

Edmond of Newark, New Jersey has a record of 4-4-2 with one knockout is a eight year professional. The 30 year-old has won two straight bouts which includes his last outing when won a four-round split decision over Edson Soto on August 15, 2015 in Jersey City, New Jersey.

In a six-round co-feature, one of the most popular fighter’s from the shore area, Light Heavyweight Chuck Mussachio will be back in the ring after a 39-month lay off when he takes on Willis Lockett in a rematch of a bout that that ended in a draw on September 19, 2008.

Mussachio of Wildwood, New Jersey has a record of 18-3-2 with five knockouts and will be looking to get back to winning ways that made him a contender with wins over former world champion Carl Daniels, Bobby Rooney (11-2-1) and Tony Ferrante (9-0).

The 36 year-old Mussachio is coming off a 2nd round stoppage defeat to Lionell Thompson on February 23, 2013 in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Lockett of Takoma Park, Maryland has a record of 14-16-5 with five knockouts.

His record does not tell the story as Lockett has faced the “Whose-Who” of fighters between Super Middleweight and Heavyweight.

He has quality wins over Tyrone Tate (5-1), Calvin Riley (1-0), Willie Williams (6-1), former world title challenger Larry Marks, Joe McCreedy (10-2-1) & John Lennox (13-3). The winner of Lennox was part of Rising Promotions maiden card on December 5, 2015.

Lockett has faced eight undefeated fighters. Lockett will look to break a two-fight losing streak. In his last bout, Lockett was disqualified against Jordan Shimmell (19-1) on February 27 in Washington, DC.

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ (March 21, 2016)–This past Saturday night, welterweight contender, Thomas “Cornflake” LaManna thrilled a sold-out crowd at The Claridge in Atlantic City when he scored fourth round stoppage over Kendal Mena that highlighted a action-packed nine bout card.

The card was promoted by Rising Promotions and Vincent M. Ponte’s Gulfstream Promotions.

With all of the seats occupied, fans were jammed on the walls and they enjoyed LaManna’s performance, which was action-filled from the opening bell.

LaManna used hard right hands to continuously rock Mena. In round one, LaManna set the tone by buckling Mena with one of those rights. LaManna was sitting down on his punches to the point where he sent Mena’s mouthpiece firing out oh his mouth several times and finally in round three, referee David Fanciosi had to deduct a point from Mena. LaManna continued to rock Mena with hard shots and had him wobbled throughout round four. LaManna had Mena on the ropes and one more hard right hand pummeled into Mena and Franciosi stopped the bout at 2:23 of round four.

LaManna of Millville, NJ is 20-1 with eight knockouts. Mena of San Cristobal, Dominican Republic is 20-4.

“It felt good to get the stoppage. I can only see bigger and better things coming for my career, I am only getting better and stronger, and I predict more knockouts to come,” Said LaManna. “I felt real composed and I knew he was hurt in the first round and I took my time to break him down and get him out. Rising Promotions and Gulfstream Promotions has three more dates at The Claridge (May 27, September 17 and November 12) and I am still building. I am still young and am taking my time to get where I want to be.”

Isiah Seldon (8-1) came back after a 33-month layoff with a six-round unanimous decision over Michael Mitchell to capture the Tri-State Super Middleweight title.

Seldon of Atlantic City almost had a stoppage in round one as he landed a hard flurry of punches and had Mitchell hurt on the ropes. It looked like referee Mary Glover was stepping in to stop the fight, but she just separated the fighters. Seldon got the best of the action over the game Mitchell and came home with the victory to the tune of 58-56 on all cards.

Dan Pasciolla (7-1-1) won the Tri-State Heavyweight title with a shutout six-round unanimous decision over comebacking former IBF Cruiserweight champion Imamu Mayfield (25-10-2)

Scores were 60-54 on all cards.

Popular Long Island welterweight Tommy Rainone (25-7-1) made his boardwalk debut a successful one as he scored a hard fought unanimous decision over Maurice Chalmers (14-13-1) in a eight-round bout. Rainone used effective punching to open up a cut over Chalmers left eye in round two. Chalmers tried to make the fight, but Rainone used effective counters and won by scores of 79-73 on all cards.

Daryl Bunting (1-0-1) started the card off with a four-round unanimous decision over Darryl Watkins (0-3) in a super middleweight bout.

Bunting win by scores of 40-36 twice and 40-35.

Omar Brito (3-2, 2 KO’s) scored a explosive one-punch knockout over Bienvenido Diaz (2-2) in a scheduled four-round super featherweight bout.

Brito landed a perfect right hand that sent Diaz to the canvas. Diaz got to his feet but was wobbling around the ring and the bout was stopped at 2:20 of round one.

Quian Davis (2-0-1) won a four round unanimous decision over Corey Morley (0-2-1) in a heavyweight bout.

Scores were 40-36 on all cards.

Alvin Vermall Jr. (8-0-1) remained perfect by winning an entertaining four round unanimous decision over D’Quan Morgan (3-3-1) in a cruiserweight bout.

There was good back and forth action throughout the bout. Vermall, who is from Catskills, New York has an exciting style reminiscent to another former Catskills fighter in Mike Tyson. Morgan was bleeding from his nose in round three. The two fought a spirited affair with Vermall winning by scores of 40-36 twice and 39-37.

Hakim Bryant (6-0) remained perfect with a six-round unanimous decision over Rick Graham in a middleweight bout.

Bryant (6-0) dominated the action, and dropped Graham in round six from a flurry on the ropes and won by scores of 60-51, 60-52 and 60-53.
