Chazz Witherspoon ready for big fights in the heavyweight division

Atlantic City, New Jersey (March 8, 2018)–Heavyweight Chazz “The Gentleman” Witherspoon is looking for a big fight in the suddenly hot heavyweight division. In order to get into the mix he will need a victory this Saturday night when he takes on veteran Mike Sheppard in in the eight-round main event on at The Claridge Hotel in Atlantic City.

The Witherspoon – Sheppard bout will headline a nine-bout card, promoted by Mis Downing Promotions and Silver Spoon Promotions.

Witherspoon, 36-3 with 28 knockouts, is on a six-fight knockout streak, and has not lost in almost six years.

Witherspoon will be making his first start since stopping Carlos Sandoval in the 4th round on October 1, 2016.

“Everything is good, and despite me having a layoff, I am never too far out of shape, so I don’t expect to have any ring rust,” said the 36 year-old native of Paulsboro, New Jersey.

In Sheppard, Witherspoon is taking on a veteran, who has fought a handful of top heavyweights.

“He is a veteran, and he has 25 wins, so you have to respect that. I am not taking him lightly.”

Witherspoon is done taking layoffs, and he does not expect anymore layoffs.

“I want to stay as busy as possible, so I can be ready for big fights. I am closing in on 40 wins, so with the heavyweight division getting hot again, I feel with my record, that I should be able to get into the mix. I always like fighting in Atlantic City. It is a 40 minute drive from my home. It has been a pleasure working with Mis Dowing Promotions, and I look forward to a great night on Saturday.”

In the eight-round co-feature, Anthony Young (18-2, 6 KOs) of Atlantic City takes on Fidel Monterrosa Munoz (38-16-1, 30 KOs) of Mexico in a welterweight fight.

In six-round bouts, Mike Hilton (8-0, 7 KOs) of Trenton, NJ will take on Hector Perez (3-1, 2 KOs) of Pleasantville, NJ in a cruiserweight bout.

Atlantic City, New Jersey (March 1, 2018)–Heavyweight Chazz “The Gentleman” Witherspoon will take on veteran Mike Sheppard in in the eight-round main event on Saturday, March 10th at The Claridge Hotel in Atlantic City.

Witherspoon of Paulsboro, New Jersey has a record of 36-3 with 28 knockouts.

The 36 year-old Witherspoon is a 14 year-veteran who has wins over Michael Alexander (11-0), Talmidge Giffiths (24-6-3), Jonathan Haggler (18-1), Adam Richards (21-1), Ty Cobb (14-2), Nick Guivas (11-2-2) & Michael Marrone (21-5.

Witherspoon is on a six-fight knockout streak, with the latest being a 4th round stoppage over Jonathan Sandoval on October 1, 2016 in Trenton, New Jersey.

Sheppard of Palestine, West Virginia has a record of 25-22-2 with 11 knockouts.

The 29 year-old Munoz is a 12 year veteran, and is the former Colombian lightweight champion. Munoz has a win over Oscar Cuero (8-0) and has been in the ring with world champions Humberto Soto & Antonio Demarco as well world title challengers Pablo Cesar Cano and Lenny Zappavigna.

Smith stops Gabejan in 7

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ (APRIL 25, 2017)–This Past Saturday, Keenan Smith stopped Edgar Gabejan in round seven of their scheduled eight round super lightweight bout that headlined a six bout card at The Claridge Hotel in Atlantic City.

The show was promoted by GH3 Promotions and D and D Management.

Smith dominated the action, as Gabejan was reduced to lunging holding and even went to the canvas several times for slips. Smith was able to score a knockdown in round seven from a flurry of punches. Smith was fully in control and stepped on the gas in the seventh, as he dropped Gabejan for a second time from a flurry of body punches. Gabejan got to his feet, but he had taken enough punishment and the fight was stopped at 1:43.

Smith of Philadelphia is now 11-0 with five knockouts. Gabejan of the Philippines is 27-34-7.

Kenneth Sims, Jr. remained undefeated by stopping Israel Villela in round three of their scheduled six-round super lightweight bout.

Sims battered a tough Villela, and then in round two cut him around the right eye. In round three, Sims landed three flush blows, and the bout was stopped at 1:03.
Sims of Chicago is 12-0 with 4 knocouts. Villela of Cancun, MX is 6-5-2.
Heavyweight’s Tyrell Wright and Dan Pasciolla fought to a 6-round draw.

Both fighter’s took a card 58-56, and a third card read even at 57-57.

Wright of Jersey City, NJ is 9-0-2. Pasciolla of Brick, NJ is 9-2-2.

John Bauza needed just 17 seconds to destroy Francis Gakpetor in the scheduled six-round super lightweight bout.

Bauza decked Gakpetor with a hard 1-2 and and the fight was over soon as he hit the gorund.

Bauza of North Bergen, NJ is 6-0 with three knockouts. Gakpetor of Ghana is 2-4-1.

Dylan Price stopped Chris Nelson in round three of their scheduled four round super flyweight bout.

Price started to beat-down Nelson in round two, and in round three battered Nelson until putting him down with a body shot, and the fight was stopped at 2:37.

Price of Sicklerville, NJ is 2-0 with two knockouts. Nelson of Kentucky is 1-4.

Emmanuel Rodriguez made a successful pro debut with a four-round split decision over Jaxel Marrero in a bantamweight bout.

Rodriguez of Newark, NJ took two cards by 39-37 tallies, while Marrero took a card 39-37.

Marrero of Puerto Rico falls to 1-8-2.




Former National Amateur champion and undefeated junior welterweight Kenneth Sims, Jr. is ready for Israel Villela this Saturday night at The Claridge in Atlantic City

Atlantic City, NJ (April 19, 2017)- Undefeated junior welterweight Kenneth Sims, Jr. will look to make it 12 in a row without a loss when he takes on tough Mexican Israel Villela in a six-round co-feature bout this Saturday night at The Claridge Hotel In Atlantic City.

The bout will be part of a ten-bout card promoted by GH3 Promotions and D and D Promotions.

In the main event, undefeated junior welterweight Keenan Smith (10-0, 4 KO’s) of Philadelphia takes on veteran Edgar Gabejan of the Philippines in a bout scheduled for eight-rounds.

Sims of Chicago, will be making his 2nd consecutive start on the boardwalk after his eight-round unanimous decision over Emmanuel Robles (15-1-1) on January 20th at Ballys. That fight was part of a ShoBox: The New Generation card seen live on Showtime.

Sims got the call to take a “Stay Busy” fight, before he steps back up later in the Summer.

“I found out about this fight three weeks ago. It is not a big deal, I already had been sparring, so I am in good shape and ready for Saturday,” said Sims.

In Villela, Sims has seen little, but not a lot of his opponent, but he will be ready for anything that Villela will bring to the ring.

“I saw a few Youtube videos, but I did not see a lot to get to a feel for him. But I am an experienced fighter, and I just have to fight my fight. I am not underestimating him, and I know he will be trying to win.”

In the fight with Robles, Sims fought well throughout, and gave a brief critique of his performance.

“I looked over the last fight, and I looked better watching it on television then I thought I did in the ring. With that being said, I know I have things to work on, and I could have looked better.”

Sims is looking for a big performance on Saturday that will be a prelude to a busy Summer.

“It would be good to get a stoppage. I am looking to come back May 13th in Louisiana, then a fight back on television.”

The 24 year-old is a 5 year professional. Odom won his first 11 bouts, which included a thrilling stoppage over previously undefeated Victor Quinonez (8-0) in six-rounds in a bout that was nationally televised on Showtime’s ShoBox: The New Generation.

Odom then was disqualified in his bout against Andrew Hernandez, when Odom hit Hernandez while he was down. The loss was extremely controversial, and Odom avenged that setback in dramatic fashion as he stopped Hernandez inside of a round in their rematch. Odom, who has appeared on ShoBox five times, stopped Julius Jackson (19-1) on July 22, 2016. In his last bout, Odom was stopped in five rounds by Philadelphia based upset specialist Taneal Goyco on November 11, 2016 in Philadelphia.

Thomas “Cornflake” LaManna returns to action on Saturday, January 28th at the Claridge Hotel in Atlantic City

Atlantic City, NJ (December 22, 2016) – Thomas “Cornflake” LaManna will return ti the ring in an eight-round junior middleweight bout on Saturday night, January 28th at the Claridge Hotel in Atlantic City.

The bout will headline a card promoted by Rising Promotions.

LaManna of Millville, New Jersey has a record of 21-2 with nine knockouts.

The 25 year-old is coming off a defeat to undefeated Dusty Hernandez Harrison in a thrilling bout that took place on September 15th in Philadelphia.

In that bout, LaManna fought a good fight and had solid moments throughout the hotly contested bout that was for the USBA Welterweight title.

LaManna is moving back up to the 154 pound division where LaManna is undefeated (7-0 between 148-154 pounds) in the division for which he turned professional in 2011.

LaManna won his first 16 bouts, where enjoyed wins over Ashanti Gibbs and Jamaal Davis.

After suffering his first professional defeat to undefeated middleweight prospect Antoine Douglas, LaManna ripped off five consecutive victories that was highlighted by by a 4th round stoppage over Kendal Mena (20-3)

Bayonne, New Jersey (August 25, 2016)-A full nine-bout card is set for LGM Promotions exciting show this Saturday night at the BCB Pavillion in Bayonne, New Jersey

In the main event, it will be a battle of New Jersey based welterweights as Alex Perez (18-2, 10 KOs) will take on Juan “The Beast” Rodriguez (12-4, 5 KOs) in a bout scheduled for eight rounds and will be contested for the IBU World Welterweight title.

This will be Newark native Perez’ return to the ring after an eighteen-month layoff.

Perez, 34 years-old turned professional in 2004 and won his first 16 bouts. He has solid wins over Edy Chavez (1-0), Josh Sosa (10-1) and Francisco Figueroa (20-3). On March 14, 2009 Perez captured the WBC Caribbean Boxing Federation Welterweight title with a unanimous decision over Laureano Laracuente at the Coliseo Luis Aymat in San Sebastian, Puerto Rico.

Perez was last seen in the ring, losing to Brandon Adams in the acclaimed Boxcino tournament on February 13, 2015 at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, Connecticut.

The 29 year-old Rodriguez, hailing from Union City, New Jersey turned professional in 2009 and won his first 11 bouts.

All four of Rodriguez’ defeats have come to undefeated fighters.

In his last bout, he was stopped by Ivan Golub on January 16 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

In six-round bouts:

Tyrell Wright (8-0-1, 6 KOs) of Jersey City, NJ will fight Nicholas Thompson (5-1, 5 KOs) of Burlington, NC in a heavyweight bout.

In four-round bouts:

Darren Goodall (3-0, 2 KO’s) of New Milford, NJ battles Jhaquis Davis (0-3) of Missouri City, Texas in a middleweight fight

Magdiel Cotto (4-0, 4 KO’s) of Comerio, Puerto Rico fights pro debuting Jermaine Corley of Concord, NC in a middleweight affair.

Egomir Plevako (2-2, 1 KO) of Kharkik, Ukraine will take on Kenny Cruz (0-1-1) of Bayamon, Puerto Rico in a heavyweight fight.

Caleb Hernandez (2-0, 1 KO) of Paterson, New Jersey battles Lamont White (0-2) of Washington, DC in a welterweight bout.

Leon Johnson (1-0, 1 KO) of Newark, New Jersey will fight Alando Pugh (1-8-1) in a heavyweight tussle.

John Bauza (2-0, 2 KO’s) of North Bergen, New Jersey will square off with Jose Carmona (1-5, 1 KO) of Puerto Rico in a lightweight affair.

Luis Perozo (2-0, 1 KO) will fight Alexander Foster (0-1) of Alexandria, VA in a lightweight bout.

Special guests in attendance will be for two-time cruiserweight world champion Steve ” USS” Cunningham, Chuck Wepner, Bryant “By By” Jennings, current WBA Super Featherweight world champion Jason Sosa and other boxing personalities
