MIAMI, Okla. (July 15, 2017) – Ivan Baranchyk went the distance with Keenan Smith in front of Baranchyk’s adopted hometown in the main event of a quadrupleheader featuring eight returning fighters on Friday’s ShoBox: The New Generation from Buffalo Run Casino & Resort.

In a battle of undefeated fighters, the hard-hitting Baranchyk (15-0, 10 KOs) took advantage of a one-point holding deduction against Sims in the fifth round to earn the decision in his fifth appearance on the ShoBox series and six consecutive fight out of Miami.

“I’m happy to be fighting back home in Miami, I love to fight here,” said Baranchyk, who was happy with his win but displeased with his overall performance. “I came out too hard and tried too hard to knock Smith out. I really wanted to knock him out which is why my punches were wild.”

Smith (11-1, 5 KOs) sealed his fate when he was deducted a point by officials after excessive holding throughout the first half of the fight. He became the 166th fighter to lose his undefeated record on the ShoBox series.

“They weren’t playing fair,” Smith said. “Anything that I did, the referee was on me. I was hitting him with clean body shots, and he kept telling me to keep them up, and then he took a point for holding. I don’t know what fight [the judges] were watching.”

The fight was a hard-hitting and physical affair from the beginning. Baranchyk came out swinging, landing just 21% of his jabs and 29% of total punches, edging out Smith who landed just 22% of his total punches.

“I came out too hard and tried to knock him out, which is why my punches were wild,” said Baranchyk.

In the co-feature, Rolando Chinea upset previously unbeaten former national amateur champion Kenneth Sims Jr. in a close majority decision.

“I was most confident after the second round of the fight, when I noticed he was sticking his tongue out and making certain gestures that showed he was tired,” Chinea said. “If I had to grade myself I would rate my overall performance as a B… I have a lot to improve on and my job here is never finished.”

Like Smith, Sims (12-1, 4 KOs) suffered the first loss of his career, becoming the 165th fighter to lose his undefeated record on the ShoBox series.

In the wild final round, the pair combined for 291 punches and 85 connects, but Chinea’s surge earned him the majority decision win.

“My body just didn’t respond tonight,” Sims said. “I am done at 140 pounds. I just did not feel right from the opening bell. I am going to 147 pounds.”

In the sixth round, Chinea took control and was the busier fighter against a fading Sims. While both fighters exchanged numerous punches in the seventh and closed the fight out with a flurry of activity, Sims clearly struggled at 140 pounds.

In the wild final round, the pair combined for 291 punches and 85 connects, but Chinea’s surge earned him the majority decision win.

In the second fight of the night, Glenn Dezurn (9-0-1, 6 KOs) stepped up to the 121-pound super bantamweight division to go the distance with ShoBox veteran Adam Lopez (16-1-2, 8 KOs) in an action-packed eight-round slugfest that ended in a split draw. Both fighters were visibly disappointed by the judge’s decision.

“I thought I did enough to win,” said the still-undefeated Dezurn, who spars with his wife, women’s pro fighter Franchon Crews. “I’m just fortunate for this opportunity and hope [Lopez] and I can come back strong and fight again someday.”

The first round was a round of give-and-take where both Dezurn and Lopez landed and sustained an impressive amount of body punches. It was Lopez who originally appeared more subdued, foregoing the counterpunch as Dezurn worked the jab.

By the fifth round it was clear Dezurn was losing steam when Lopez began to break him down and force him against the ropes. Lopez went on to dominate the sixth and seventh rounds, when Dezurn, clearly out-fought, looked tired and began to lean over.

“After the first round, I dominated the action,” said Lopez, who has now fought on ShoBox a record-tying six times. Maybe [Dezurn] won the seventh, but I whipped him. I should have won the fight, this was a redemption for me. Once I got used to his speed, I feel I won rounds six to two. The whole fight, his back was against the ropes and I beat up his body.”

Trained by the famed Coach Barry Hunter, the still-undefeated Dezurn made a valiant comeback in the final round, where he came back to life.

“I thought it was fair,” Hunter said. “We came on in the middle rounds, and Glenn won the seventh and eighth to get us the draw. It all came down to the stretch and I thought we did enough to win those rounds.”

In the opening bout of the telecast, former knockdown-of-the-year candidate Joshua Greer Jr. (14-1-1, 6 KOs) stopped Leroy Davila (5-2, 3 KOs) after five rounds, when Davila’s corner called the fight at the conclusion of the fifth.

“The game plan was to box and hit hard, and that’s what I did,” said Greer, who earned a memorable knockout against James Gordon Smith in his last ShoBox appearance. “I had to put on a good show. I will fight whoever has the belts. I want to fight for a world title.”

The 23-year old Greer landed a number of aggressive combinations that had Davila against the ropes from the onset. While Davila appeared to come alive in the second round, the 29-year old southpaw became stationary and had trouble recovering from a shot to the face that had him bleeding out of the left side of his nose and struggling for the second half of the fourth and the fifth. His corner called the fight just after the bell sounded, ending the fifth round.

Adam Lopez (16-1-1, 10 KO’s) of San Antonio, Texas will take on undefeated Glenn Dezurn (9-0, 6 KOs) of Baltimore in a super bantamweight bout. Leroy Davila (5-1, 3 KOs) of New Brunswick, N.J., will take on Joshua Greer (13-1-1, 5 KOs) of Chicago in a bantamweight bout scheduled for eight rounds.

The ShoBox telecast features eight returning fighters with a combined record of 94 wins against just four losses.

In the main event, dangerous southpaw Keenan “Killa” Smith, (11-0, 5 KOs), of Philadelphia will make his second appearance on the series as he takes on Ivan Baranchyk, (14-0, 10 KOs), a native of Minsk, Belarus, fighting out of Miami, Okla., who is making his fifth appearance on the ShoBox series.

Sims, a 2013 U.S. National Amateur Champion and a 2012 Olympic Trials semifinalist, continues to step up in level of opposition as he meets one of the most dangerous opponents of his career in his second ShoBox appearance.

Lopez of San Antonio, Texas will be making his sixth appearance on ShoBox. The 26-year-old was on the cusp of title shot before being stopped by Daniel Roman on Jan. 20th in Atlantic City. Lopez has not lost confidence as he is approaching this big fight against the undefeated Dezurn. Lopez also has a new focus as he moved his training camp from Texas to New Jersey.

“This was a tremendous camp in New Jersey. I learned a lot of new stuff, and now I am ready for the fight,” said Lopez.

“I needed a change of scenery, and needed to get out of Texas.”

He knows he is in with a solid fighter in Dezurn, and is prepared for a hard fight.

“Dezurn is a good fighter. He throws a lot of punches, and I am ready for whatever he brings.”

Lopez cites many factors on why he believes his hand will be raised in victory.

“My experience speaks for itself. I am a real 122 pound fighter, and a win should be get me close to knocking of a door of a title shot.”

Davila, 29 years-old will be making his second ShoBox appearance in just his seventh professional fight.

He is coming off a tough eight-round unanimous decision defeat to Dezurn on April 14 in Oxon Hill, Maryland.

The 2016 U.S. Olympic Alternate is ready for the streaking Greer.

“I had a full camp, and it went great. I am just waiting for the last few days, and I am ready for whatever he will bring.”

Despite Greer being on a ten-fight winning streak, Davila is not fazed by Greer.

“Greer is coming to win just like anyone else that I fight. The fact that I have already gone through this once, being on ShoBox, I am much more comfortable and I will have a great performance on Friday.”

Dezurn,(8-0, 6 KOs), a high school three-sport star athlete from Baltimore, Md. feels ready for his sternest test.

“I am really focused,” Dezum said. “I don’t put much thought on who I’m fighting. I just concentrate on being the best I can be on fight night. I go into the fight feeling that I am the underdog because nobody knows me. I see that as an advantage. April 14th will be a big step up for me.”

The 29 year-old will be facing his second consecutive undefeated opponent, is ready for the exposure that comes along with fighting on a nationally televised card.

“This is a very prestigious stage, I’m usually on the other side, watching, wanting to be there. Opening ShoBox for me it’s a great honor. I’m not going to disappoint. I’ve been staying focused because nothing is given. If you want results you have to work hard.”

A win over Davila, it will not only raise Dezurn’s profile, but it will also make him put him on a short list of super bantamweight prospects to watch.

“A win does a lot. It puts me at a different level, to face even better competition. It also shows me where I’m at-not only to myself but also to the boxing fans. I am not a guy who talks much. I am quiet guy who speaks in the ring, with actions and a good performance. I just look at the task at hand, and get it done.”

Davila (5-0, 3 KO’s), of New Brunswick, N.J., is a 2016 U.S. Olympic alternate who is stepping up in weight and opposition.

“This is an amazing opportunity for me. I’m fighting a fellow undefeated fighter and on television,” said the 28 year-old Davila.

Despite not knowing much about his opponent, Davila has a good idea of what he needs to do on fight night.

“I’ll be honest, I don’t know too much about Dezurn. I have seen him fight once. He’s a good fighter. He can pressure, he can step back and I noticed he’s a pretty good puncher. He’s a solid opponent.”

Like Dezurn, Davila will be taking in his second consecutive undefeated foe, and he knows that this could be a springboard to big things.

“I think this is a great opportunity. I just can’t get too caught up on the big stage-on this being on television, because at the end of the day, I step in that ring alone. After April 14, the boxing world will know who Leroy Davila is.”

Atlantic City, NJ (March 24, 2017)- Undefeated super lightweight Keenan Smith will headline a big night of action on Saturday, April 22nd at The Claridge Hotel in Atlantic City.

The show is promoted by GH3 Promotions and D and D Promotions.

The card will also feature many up and coming stars from the Philadelphia/New Jersey region.

Smith of Philadelphia has a record of 10-0 with 4 knockouts.

Smith, the 2008 National Golden Gloves Featherweight Champion and a 2007 Junior Olympic National Champion, turned pro in April 2010-at 130 pounds. Smith went 72-4 in the amateurs. Two of the victories came against current world-ranked contender Amir Imam.

He turned professional in 2010, and his wins over two undefeated fighters Alex Montes (1-0) and Lavelle Hadley (2-0). Smith also has a win over Bemjamin Whitaker (10-1) in a bout that was nationally televised on Showtime’s ShoBox series. In his last bout, Smith defeated Marquis Hawthorne on January 20th in Atlantic City.

In the exciting eight-round co-feature, Gabriel Pham will battle Jerry Odom in a super middleweight bout.

Pham of Atlantic City, New Jersey has a record of 8-1 with four knockouts.

The 28 year-old Pham turned professional in 2009, and won his first six bouts, which included a win over undefeated Michael Glenn (2-0). Since his only professional blemish, Pham has knocked out his last two opponents, with the latest being a 4th round stoppage over Chauncey Fields (4-10) on March 11th at The Claridge in Atlantic City.

This will be Pham’s 7th fight in Atlantic City, with this being his 3rd consecutive at The Claridge.

Odom of Bowie, Maryland has a record of 14-3-1 with 13 knockouts.

The 24 year-old is a 5 year professional. Odom won his first 11 bouts, which included a thrilling stoppage over previously undefeated Victor Quinonez (8-0) in six-rounds in a bout that was nationally televised on Showtime’s ShoBox: The New Generation.

Odom then was disqualified in his bout against Andrew Hernandez, when Odom hit Hernandez while he was down. The loss was extremely controversial, and Odom avenged that setback in dramatic fashion as he stopped Hernandez inside of a round in their rematch. Odom, who has appeared on ShoBox five times, stopped Julius Jackson (19-1) on July 22, 2016. In his last bout, Odom was stopped in five rounds by Philadelphia based upset specialist Taneal Goyco on November 11, 2016 in Philadelphia.

Atlantic City, NJ (February 14, 2017)–Anthony “Juice” Young will take on Rogelio Casarez in a welterweight bout scheduled for 8-rounds that will headline a big night of boxing on Saturday, March 11th at The Claridge Hotel in Atlantic City.

This will be the 7th card promoted at the Claridge by Rising Promotions.

Young of Atlantic City has a record of 15-2 with six knockouts.

The 29 year-old Young turned professional in 2011, and won his first ten bouts, which was highlighted by a win over Jose Javier Calderon (4-1-1).

After suffering his 1st loss, Young has won five of his last six, including four straight. In his last bout, Young won a six-round unanimous decision over James Robinson on January 20th in Atlantic City.

This will be Young’s 9th appearance in Atlantic City.

“I don’t know too much about my opponent, but I will be ready for him. I do know that he has a good record and is moving up in weight,”said Young. “It’s always good to fight at home in Atlantic City. I get to sleep in my bed, and get to fight in front of my hometown fans.”

Casarez of Batesville, Arkansas has a record of 13-5 with 5 knockouts.

The 26 year-old is a five year-professional. On July 9, 2016, Casarez traveled all the way to Chengdu, China, and won a 12-round unanimous decision and upset the previously undefeated Ronnakit Boontree (8-0) to capture the NABF Junior Lightweight title.

On October 29, he defended that title with 12-round unanimous decision over Blake Franklin in Batesville, Arkansas.

“I watched some tape of Young, and he is fast and moves well,” said Casarez. “I know that I am stronger, and will bring pressure to him. I feel confident after the win in China. That fight gave me good experience and it taught me that I just need to be in 100% condition to win fights, and it really does not matter where I fight.”

Davila, a 2016 United States Olympic Alternate is beginning his second year as a professional and is coming off a 4-round unanimous decision over Damon Simon on Nov. 11 in Philadelphia.

Taylor, 25, has been a professional for two years, and is coming off a third-round stoppage over Jajuan Gills last July 23 in Youngstown, Ohio.

The 26 year-old Smith is a seven-year professional. In recent bouts, he has stepped up the competition. He holds a second-round knockout over previously undefeated Lavell Hadley (2-0). PHILADELPHIA–World ranked super bantamweight Adam Lopez remained undefeated with a 8th and final round stoppage over Carlos Valcarcel at the 2300 Arena in South Philadelphia.

The show was promoted by GH3 Promotions and Victory Promotions.

Lopez of San Antonio, Texas,dominated the action over the crafty veteran, and systematically broke down Valcarcel. Lopez, who is coming off a controversial draw with Roman Reynoso in July, won each round and, started to really get to Valcarcel in the 6th frame. In round eight, Lopez landed a huge left to the body that sent Valcarcel down for the 10-count at 1:47.

Lopez, who is ranked number-4 by the WBA is now 16-0-1 with 8 knockouts. Valcarcel of Miami, Florida is 14-9-3.

“It was a tough fight, but I knew what I had to do,” said Lopez.

“I was sick with a virus last week, so it got to me in the later rounds. I knew that I had the power and I just set up the knockout punch. I knew that I started to hurt him in the last few rounds, and I would be able to get him out of there. My corner knew it too, and told me to get him earlier. Right now I will fight anyone my teams tells me to.

Welterweight prospect Ed Brown won a workmanlike 8-round unanimous decision over Albert Mensah in a junior welterweight bout.

Brown of Chicago won two cards 80-72 and 79-73 and is now 20-0. Mensah of Accra, Ghana is 29-6-1.

Jaron Ennis stopped Chrisshawn Alexander after round four of their six round welterweight bout.

Ennis scored a knockdown in round four from a straight left from the southpaw stance. After the round, Alexander could not continue.

Ennis of Philadelphia is 7-0 with six knockouts. Alexander of Norfolk, VA is 4-4.

Kenneth Sims, Jr. won a 6-round unanimous decision over Jonathan Dinong in a junior welterweight bout.

Sims of Chicago, IL won all cards 60-54 and is now 10-0. Dinong of Monterey Park, CA is 5-2.

Perennial spoiler Taneal Goyco withstood an early storm from Jerry Odom, and came back to stop the big punching Odom at the end of round five of their scheduled eight round super middleweight bout.

Odom rocked Goyco several times over the first two rounds. The bout turned when Goyco started to land hard shots that began to snap the head of Odom back. Goyco had Odom in trouble several times and ultimately Odom could not continue after the 5th frame.

Goyco of Philadelphia is now 9-9-1 with 4 knockouts. Odom of Washington, DC is now 14-3-1.

Emmanuel Folly destroyed Tibor Nadori inside of a round of their scheduled 4-round junior featherweight bout.

Folly scored 2 knockdowns and the bout was stopped at 2:02.

Folly of Philadelphia is now 8-0 with 6 knockouts. Nadori of Leeds, England is 9-7-1.

Joshua Jones remained undefeated by winning a 4-round unanimous decision over Corey Edwards in a lightweight bout.

Jones of Philadelphia won by score of 40-36 twice and 39-37 and is now 3-0-1. Edwards of South Carolina is now 2-2.

Derrick Webster stopped Zoltan Sera in round five of a scheduled six round super middleweight bout.

Webster dropped Sera seconds into the fight with a right hook. In round two, Sera was cut over the right eye. In round four, Webster scored a second knockdown with a hard combination.

In round five, Webster dropped Sera with a left hand and the fight was stopped at 1:28.

Webster of Glassboro, NJ is now 21-1 with 11 knockouts. Sera of Hungary is 26-11.

Hushiddek Noratov won a 6-round unanimous decision over Lenwood Dozier in a junior middleweight bout.

Noratov of Andijan, Uzbekistan won by scores of 60-54 on all cards and is now 3-0/ Dozier of Suitland, MD is 10-14-2.

LeRoy Davila remained undefeated by scoring a 4-round unanimous decision over Damon Simon in a bantamweight bout.

Davila rocked Simon in round three with a heavy combination.

“If I would have won that, I would be fighting for a world title. I wanted to win that fight in general, but I look forward to the next fight. Maybe I wasn’t supposed to get the title shot now. I just have to work and that shot will come. I just have to be patient.”

Valcarcel has a record of 14-8-4 with five knockouts. The 34 year-old native of Miami, Florida has wins over Jovanny Soto (15-2-1), Rodolfo Garay (14-2-1) & Leivi Brea (16-4-3).

“I know he is a 2004 Olympian. He is a veteran and a crafty fighter. He has a surviving style in the sense he is defensive and crafty. He is not a knockout puncher but you have to respect anyone who puts on those gloves,” said Lopez of his opponent.

After that fight Mensah fought Cesar Cuenca (46-0) in an eliminator for the IBF Super Lightweight title. Again he lost a close 12 round decision. Earlier in his career,
Mensah beat the then undefeated Ayi Bruce. He has made a habit of fighting undefeated fighters. In the course of his career he has fought fourteen undefeated fighters
and has a record of 12-2 in those fights.
