Joey Dawejko Takes on Former U.S. Olympian in Main Event on Friday, June 25th at The 2300 Arena in Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (June 7, 2021)–An intriguing 10-round heavyweight clash between Philly-Favorite Joey Dawejko and former U.S. Olympian Devin Vargas will headline a big night of professional boxing at the 2300 Arena in South Philadelphia.

The show is promoted by RDR Promotions.

Dawejko of Philadelphia has a 21-8-4 with 12 knockouts. The 30 year-old Dawejko was a former world junior amateur champion, and turned professional on September 26, 2009 with a six-round unanimous decision over Royphy Solieau. Over the length of his career, Dawejko has racked up wins over John Lennox (6-0), Derric Rossy (28-7), Mark Rideput (4-0-2), Enobong Umohette (9-2), Natu Visina (11-1), Demetrius Banks (9-1), Kelvin Nunez (15-0), and In his last bout, Dawejko needed just one round to take out Joe Jones on April 3rd at The 2300 Arena.

Vargas of Sylvania, Ohio had a stellar amateur career where he was a two-time national champion and represented the United States at the 2004 Summer Olympics.

Vargas turned professional on November 26, 2004 with a 1st round stoppage over Adam Smith. That led to a pro record that stands at 22-7 with nine knockouts. He has wins over Ed Perry (6-1-1), David Saulsberry (5-1), Boris Shishporenak (6-0), Niall Kennedy (13-0-1) and Victor Bisbal (23-4). Vargas is coming off a loss to Zhang Zhilei on November 7, 2020 in Hollywood, Florida.

In an eight-round bout, former National Golden Gloves champion Mike Hilton of Trenton, NJ fights Joe Jones (11-4, 8 KOs) of Jersey City, NJ.

Hilton, 34 years-old, has a record of 11-0 with seven knockouts. He is coming off of a unanimous decision over Twon Smith on April 3rd at the 2300 Arena.

Jones has a record of 11-4 with eight knockouts, and is a eight-year professional. He has a win over Montez Brown (8-0). He is coming off of being stopped by Dawejko on April 3rd at The 2300 Arena.

Also taking part in an eight-round bout will be Derrick Whitley Jr. taking on Isaac Luna in a welterweight bout.

Whitley of Springfield, MA is 6-1-1 and is a four-year professional. He is coming of a no-contest against Jermaine Corley, as Whitley suffered a cut before the fourth round.

Luna of San Elizaro, Texas, has a 5-3 with one knockout.

The 26 year-old Luna is a three-year professional and has wins over Ronnie Baca (4-0-1)ad Matthew Esquibel (12-0-1). he is coming off a decision loss to Kenny Robles on March 19th in Tampa, Florida.

In a six-round heavyweight tilt, Garrett Wilson (18-17-1, 8 KOs) of Philadelphia fights Joel Caudle (8-5-2, 5 KOs) of Raleigh, NC.

Joey Dawejko Stops Joe Jones in 1st Round in Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (APRIL 8, 2021)–This past Saturday night, popular heavyweight Joey Dawejko knocked out Joe Jones in the opening round of their scheduled eight-round heavyweight bout at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia.

The bout headlined a card promoted by RDR Promotions.

Dawejko was dominant in dropping Jones twice, with the final punch coming from a big left hook, and the fight was halted at 2:50.

Dawejko of Philadelphia improved his record to 21-8-4 with 12 knockouts. Jones falls to 11-4.

In the co-feature, surging lightweight Nahir Albright notched his third consecutive stoppage victory by stopping Dante Cox in round three of their scheduled six-round bout.

Albright dropped Cox twice in round two, and finished him off at 2:13 of the third frame.

Albright of Sicklerville, NJ is now 11-1 with five knockouts. Cox of Glen Burnie, MD is 6-2.

Former National Golden Gloves champion Mike Hilton shrugged off a knockdown to win a six-round unanimous decision over Twon Smith in a cruiserweight fight.

Smith put Hilton down for a flash knockdown in round three from a left. That was sandwiched around Hilton outboxing Smith, and Hilton took all three cards by 58-55 scores.

Hilton of Trenton, NJ is 11-0. Smith falls to 3-5.

Afunwa King scored a mild upset by taking a six-round majority decision over previously undefeated Benny Sinakin in a light heavyweight bout.

King took two cards by 58-56 tallies, while a third card read even at 57-57.

King is now 3-1. Sinakin of Philadelphia is 6-1.

Matthew Gonzalez of Brooklyn, New York remained undefeated by taking out Luis Eduardo Florez in round five of a scheduled six-round junior welterweight bout.

The time of the stoppage was 2:13 for Gonzalez, who is now 12-0 with eight knockouts. Florez is now 25-19.

Rasheen Brown stopped late-replacement Christopher Nelson in round three of their four-round featherweight fight.

Brown dominated with body shots, and the fight was stopped at 1:50 of round three. A West Philadelphia native, Brown is 7-0 with four knockouts. Nelson is 3-18.

Tahmir Smalls remained undefeated by winning a four-round unanimous decision over Andres Abarca in a welterweight bout.

Scores were 40-34 twice and 39-35 for Smalls, who is now 3-0. Abarca,is 2-4.

Jahdon Ervin made a successful pro debut by taking a four-round unanimous decision over Kareem Gladney in a middleweight fight.

Ervin of St. Clair, PA is 1-0. Gladney is 0-4.

Mike Hilton Remains Undefeated with Unanimous Decision over Baldimir Hernandez in Trenton, New Jersey

Trenton, NJ (January 27, 2020) – Mike Hilton remained undefeated with a six-round unanimous decision over Bladimir Hernandez in the main event of the inaugural ChampBox fight card promoted by Silver Bow at the Cure Insurance Arena in Trenton, New Jersey.

Hilton of Trenton, NJ won by scores of 60-54 on all cards to raise his record to 10-0. Hernandez of Chihuahua, Mexico is 20-15.

Shinard Bunch annihilated Fabian Lyimo in 35 seconds of their scheduled six-round welterweight bout.

Bunch dropped Lyimo in the opening seconds with a vicious left hook. Lyimo, who was in trouble, and was stopped on a follow up flurry.

Bunch of Trenton is 7-1 with six knockouts. Lyimo of Tanzania is 23-12-2.

Frederic Julan remained undefeated with a 2nd round stoppage over Fidel Munoz in a scheduled six-round light heavyweight bout.

In round two, Julan dropped Munoz with a right hook that had him down for referee Alan Huggins 10-count at 38 seconds.

Julan of Brooklyn, NY is 12-0 with 10 knockouts. Munoz of Barranquilla, COL is 39-22-1.

Chris Thomas blew out Engelberto Valenzuela in round one of a scheduled six-round light heavyweight bout.

Thomas came out and was all over Valenzuela and dropped him in the corner. Thomas dropped him for a 2nd time with a perfect right to the head and the fight was stopped at 1:13

Thomas of Toms River, NJ is 15-1-1 with 10 knockouts. Valenzuela Sonora. MEX is 12-17.

LaQuan Evans won a four round unanimous decision over Alberto Delgado in a middleweight bout.

Evans of Philadelphia won by scores of 40-36 on all cards and is now 3-1. Delagado of Roanoke, VA is 1-10-4.

Jakub Sowirko remained undefeated by stopping Mike Moore in the final round of their crusierweight bout.

The time of the stoppage was 32 seconds for Sowirko of Trenton who is now 2-0 with one knockout. Moore of Bristol, PA is 1-2.

Local Inspiration Mike Hilton Headlines This Saturday Night on Silver Bow’s ChampBox1 Fight Card at Cure Insurance Arena in Trenton, New Jersey

Trenton, NJ (January 21, 2020) – This Saturday night at the Cure Insurance Arena in Trenton, New Jersey, Silver Bow’s ChampBox 1 that will be headlined by undefeated and Trenton’s own Mike Hilton.

Hilton (9-0, 7 KOs) will compete in a six-round bout.

Hilton has become an inspirational story as he grew up in the rough streets of Trenton, and was involved in the gang life-style to not only turn his life around, but become a mentor to those around the Trenton area.

“My training camp went very good. I had some good and tough sparring,” said the 33 year-old Hilton.

The fight, along with the beginning of the series in Trenton could not only be a launching point for Hilton’s career inside the ring, but could also serve as motivation to young people in the area.

“It’s very important and a big deal to me. I can show kids that have made mistakes in life, that you can still do something good, and have a positive purpose to continue to follow your dreams. After everything that I have gone through, I am thrilled to be here, as I have friends who are not here.”

Hilton survived those streets to become the 2015 National Golden Gloves Champion where he was the first ever Garden State resident to win the National Elite tournament. That tournament, which took place in 2013 was the first of it’s kind where the fighters did not wear any headgear.

Hilton will be making his first ring start in 21 months believes the beginning of this series in his hometown will jump-start his career towards contendership.

“I am looking to fight as often as I can. Hopefully at least four fights this year because of this series. One thing for sure is that I won’t be inactive. I definitely see this series getting bigger and bigger with each event. And I think Trenton needs someone that they can get behind. That person is me. I am that person. With all the things that I have gone through, I feel that I can be that role model to kids in the area and show that that I have turned my life around, and that if I can do it, so can they. I am still not where I want to be, but I am better then where I was.”

Witherspoon decisions Capers in Atlantic City

Atlantic City, New Jersey (March 12, 2018)–Chazz Witherspoon raised his winning streak to eight in a row as he went the eight-round distance by won a unanimous decision over Lamont Capers that headlined a seven-bout card at The Claridge Hotel in Atlantic City.

The show, which took place this past Saturday, was promoted by Mis Downing Promotions and Silverspoon Promotions.

Witherspoon was able to outpoint the crafty Capers. Capers was very competitive, but it was Witherspoon’s size and harder punches that proved to be the difference as he captured the via 78-74, 78-74 and 77-75 scores.

Witherspoon of Paulsboro, NJ is now 37-3. Capers, who was fighting for the 2nd time in seven days is 9-12-4.

Willis Lockett took a six-round majority decision over Prince Badi Ajamu in a cruiserweight bout.

Lockett of Takoma Park, MD won by scores of 59-55, 58-56 and 57-57, and is now 16-22-6. Ajamu of Camden, NJ is 28-4-1.

Super Lightweight John Bauza remained undefeated with a six-round unanimous decision over David Morales.

Bauza of North Bergen, NJ won on all cards by scores of 60-54, and is now 9-0. Morales of Managua, Nicaragua is 13-9.

Mike Hilton won a three-round technical unanimous decision over Hector Perez.

The fight was a terrific back and forth brawl when Perez suffered a cut over his right eye in the third frame.

Perez almost made a quick night for himself as he dropped Hilton in the 1st round. Hilton stormed back to register his own knockdown’s in round two and three.

The scores were 28-26 on all cards at the time of he stoppage.

Hilton of Trenton, NJ is 10-0. Perez of Pleasantville, NJ is 3-2

Edgar Cortes won a four-round unanimous decision over Kevin Asmat in a featherweight bout.

Scores were 38-37 twice and 39-36 for Cortes, of Vineland, NJ, who is now 6-4. Asmat of North Bergen. NJ is 3-2.

Alejandro Jimenez made a successful pro debut with a 2nd round stoppage over Derrick Pitts in a bantamweight bout.

The time of the finish was 3:00. Pitts is 0-2.

Dan Murray and Latorrie Woodberry fought to a no-contest when Woodberry hurt his shoulder in the 1st round of their scheduled four-round welterweight bout.
