Split-T Management’s Eric Puente and Omar Rosario Remain Undefeated With Wins in Las Vegas

NEW YORK (June 20 2021)-Lightweight Eric Puente and junior welterweight Omar Rosario remained perfect by scoring big wins at The Virgin Hotel in Las Vegas on Saturday.

The duo are managed by Split-T Management.

Puente had to shake off an opening round knockdown to win a unanimous decision over Jose Antonio Meza in a lightweight bout.

In round one, Puente was sent to the canvas from a left hook. Puente showed a tremendous heart and determination as he fought himself back into the contest. By round three, Puente seized control of the bout, and won by scores of 58-55 twice to raise his perfect mark to 6-0. Meza falls to 7-6.

Rosario was very impressive by stopping previously undefeated JJ Mariano in the fourth and final round.

In the opening round, Rosario buckled Mariano. In round two, Rosario registered a knockdown, and later in the round he landed a hard hook that had Mariano staggering back yo his corner.

Rosario hurt Mariano several times in round three, and finished off Mariano with a left that sent Mariano down again, and the fight was stopped at 2:13.

Rosario of Caguas, PR is now 4-0 with two knockouts. Mariano is now 3-1.

Rosario said, “We took full advantage of the opportunity and put on a good performance on a great card. We got the job done against an opponent who was undefeated and who came to put up a great fight.”

Split-T Management’s Undefeated Fighters Eric Puente & Omar Rosario in action Tomorrow night in Las Vegas

NEW YORK (June 18, 2021)-Two undefeated fighters from the Split-T Management stable will be in action tomorrow night at the Virgin Hotel in Las Vegas.

Puente will take on Jose Antonio Meza in a six-round lightweight fight, while Rosario squares off with JJ Mariano in a four-round battle of undefeated junior welterweights.

Puente, 21 years-old of Vista, California is 5-0 and is coming off a unanimous decision over undefeated Sergio Vega on February 13th in Las Vegas.

Puente was a 2016 National Youth Open Champion, and was a member of Team USA. Puente was a favorite to be a member of the 2020 United States Olympic Team

Meza of Durango, Mexico, will be the most experienced foe of Puente’s young career as he has record of 7-5 with two knockouts. The 24 year-old Meza has wins over Arturo Montes (1-0-2) and Juan Funez (11-0-1). Meza is coming off a distance defeat to hotshot prospect Keyshawn Davis on May 8th in Arlington, Texas.

Puente was 136 lbs at Friday’s weigh-in; Meza was 136.6

Rosario of Caguas, Puerto Rico is 3-0 with one knockout. The 23 year-old is coming off of a 2nd round stoppage over Uriel Villanueva on February 20th in Las Vegas,

Rosario, 23 years-old, was the Puerto Rican Olympic Trial Champion at 152 lbs., and was the island’s favorite to win a medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics

Mariano of Reno, Nevada is 3-0 with two knockouts. The 27 year-old is coming off an opening round stoppage over Matthew Reed October 3rd in Las Vegas,

Rosario was 140.5 lbs; Mariano was 140 lbs.

The bouts will be streamed live on ESPN+ at 8 PM ET

Quartet of Split-T Management Fighters in Action TONIGHT!!!

NEW YORK (February 20, 2021) – Four fighters under the Split-T Management banner will see action on two different shoes

In Las Vegas, undefeated Heavyweight Sonny Conto returns to take on Waldo Cortes in a four-round bout; undefeated middleweight Javier Martinez takes on Billy Wagner in a four-round bout; Omar Rosario battles Uriel Villanueva in a junior welterweight tussle. Those bouts will be contested at at the MGM Grand Conference Center, AKA “The Bubble”, and streamed live on ESPN+ at 6:30 PM RT.

Welterweight contender Ivan Golub takes on Luis Eduardo Florez in a bout scheduled for eight-rounds at the Carible Royale.in Orlando, Florida.

Conto of Philadelphia has a record of 6-0 with five knockouts.

The 25 year-old Conto is coming off a 1st round stoppage over Curtis Head on January 11, 2020 in Atlantic City.

Cortes of Arizona is 6-3 with three knockouts, and sports a win over Kingsley Ibeh. Cortes is coming off a 1st round stoppage over Daviante Jones on October 29th.

Conto weighed 221.5 lbs at Friday’s weigh-in. Cortes was 255.5 lbs.

Martinez of Milwaukee is 2-0.

The 25 year-old Martinez is coming off a unanimous decision over Rance Ward on August 29th.

Martinez was the 2020 Olympic Trial Champion at middleweight. He was also a five-time National Champion, and the number-one ranked fighter at 165 pounds in the USA Boxing Rankings, Martinez’s selection as an Olympic alternate despite his victory at the trials and various international experience caused shock-waves through the amateur system.

Wagner of Great Falls, Montana, has a record of 3-1 with one knockout.

He has a win over Andrew Whitfield, and is won his last two fights, including his last bout when defeated 16-fight veteran Sean Gee on January 25, 2020.

Martinez weighed 161 lbs; Wagner weighed 160 lbs.

Rosario of Caguas, Puerto Rico, has a record of 2-0.

The 23 year-old Rosario is coming off a unanimous decision win over Matt Gaver on October 2nd in Kissimmee, Florida.

Golub of Brooklyn, New York is on the cusp of a major opportunity, as he sports an impressive mark of 18-1 with 14 knockouts.

The 32 year-old Golub is a seven-year professional.

He has racked up a slew of an impressive wins over Kirk Huff (3-0), Tyson Harrison (2-0), Kendal Mena (20-2), Juan Rodriguez Jr. (12-3), Marlon Aguas (9-0) and James Stevenson (23-2). Golub has won five straight contests, with the latest being a 10th round stoppage over Janer Gonzalez (19-2-1) on November 15, 2019 to make the 2nd defense of his WBC USNBC Welterweight title.

Florez of Colombia is 25-17 with 21 knockouts.

The 33 year-old is a 10 year-veteran, and has a 1st round knockout over current WBC Super Featherweight champion Miguel Berchelt (21-0 at the time).

Florez has shared the ring with world champions Jamel Herring and Regis Prograis.

Golub weighed in a 149.6 lbs. Florez was 150.4 lbs.

NEW YORK (October 2, 2020) – Split-T Management junior welterweight prospect, Omar Rosario will be back in action TONIGHT!! when he takes on Matt Gavers in Kissimmee, Florida.

Rosario is coming off an impressive pro debut when he won a four-round unanimous decision over Solon Staley on August 21st at the same Osceola Heritage Park, where Friday night’s fight will be held.

The Top Rank Promoted Rosario, 22 years-old of Caguas, PR, was the Puerto Rican Olympic Trial Champion at 152 lbs., and was the island’s favorite to win a medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, but signed with Tim VanNewhouse with Split-T Management.

At Thursday’s weigh-in, Rosario was 144 lbs.; Gavers was 146.

Split-T Management’s Omar Rosario Impressive in Pro Debut Victory

NEW YORK (August 24, 2020) -Highly touted junior welterweight prospect Omar Rosario made a very successful professional debut by winning a four-round unanimous decision over six-fight veteran Solon Staley on Friday night at the Osceola Heritage Park in Kissimmee, Florida.

Rosario is managed by Split-T Management.

The Top Rank Promoted Rosario, 22 years-old of Caguas, PR, was the Puerto Rican Olympic Trial Champion at 152 lbs., and was the island’s favorite to win a medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, but signed with Tim VanNewhouse with Split-T Management.

In the bout with Colon, he boxed very effectively and worked the body of Colon.

“I am very happy with my performance because I was able to demonstrate that I can do many things.,” said Rosario. “I worked my jab well, and I showed that I can work to the body. My opponent took a lot of punishment, and was in trouble quite a few times. It was a good experience to go four rounds in my pro debut.’

“I hope to be fighting again in October.”

Rosario will campaign in the junior welterweight division.

Rosario was likely to star at the Olympics, however after many conversations with his coaches and family surrounding the uncertainty of the Olympic games due to postponement of the games due to COVID-19, Rosario has decided to make the transition to the pro ranks under the guidance of Split-T’s Tim VanNewhouse.

According to VanNewhouse, Rosario is a complete fighter with good fundamental skills – honed by over 200 amateur bouts – with a particular fondness for attacking the body like his idol, Miguel Cotto.

Rosario enjoys a strong support system at home that includes his brother Jose, a 2015 Pan-Am Games Bronze medalist boxer for Puerto Rico, and is in the process of completing his Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing & Finance at Ana G. Méndez Universidad.

At Thursday’s weigh-in Rosario weighed 144.2 lbs. Staley was 143.6.
